Pyro Pinon (2003-2006) January 15, 2007

Posted by benj in Medicine.

The fact that GMA 7 was showing his dream encounter with wrestler Batista couldn’t have been good news. True enough, Pyro passed away last December 27 shortly after struggling to cope with his chemotherapy. The kid has been in an uphill climb against a mediastinal germ cell tumor for over a year. His remarkable story has been chronicled by his concerned aunt and several other bloggers and yours truly. It’s a sad story, but Pyro fought hard and fought a very good fight. He pushed on with life even if the odds were against him – thanks in large part to his parents and extended family who never waned in their support.

Goodbye, Pyro. You fought well. Batista would’ve been proud.

Well, being the BIG fan of professional wrestling that I am, it was so sweet for Dave Batista [Who is currently the World Heavyweight Champion of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) SmackDown! roster, defeating King Booker to win the title last November 26, 2006 at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view…] to inspire one child to face the “fight of his life”. Plus, Pyro’s family and other loved ones helped him in his struggle.

I’m sure the child is in a better place right now. May his soul Rest In Peace.

This made me sad… Parang, it was like “the other day” when I saw Pyro meeting Batista sa “wish ko lang” – I’ve read this entry week ago pa, I just don’t want to comment on it… Figuring out things lang… I remember late night chats about cancer and all… Guess, mas okay kung naEnjoy niya life niya as a kid. But we can’t turn back time… I wish, wherever Pyro is now, I know he’s more happy naman…

My deepest sympathy and condolences…
